10/10/2018.- The Valladolid International Film Festival, Seminci, is collaborating for the seventh consecutive year with the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra (OSCyL) to fuse cinema and music by screening the silent classic Safety Last! (1923). Directed by Fred Newmeyer and Sam Taylor, the film is widely known because of its famous scene featuring its protagonist, Harold Lloyd, hanging from the hands of a clock atop a high building.
The original soundtrack was penned by Don Hulette in 1974. But in 1989, with the film’s re-release in London, Carl Davis created a new piece inspired by popular music of the 1920s. It will be performed by the OSCyL on 26 October at 8pm in the Symphony Hall (Sala Sinfónica) at the Miguel Delibes Cultural Centre.
