Disidencias. Nuevos cineastas / Nuevas miradas
Let us look at the title: ‘Dissidences’. It could also have been called ‘Heterodoxies’, or ‘Divergences’, or ‘Disruptions’, or ‘Against the Current’. Or any other concept that points to everything that falls outside the norm, that seeks new paths in spite of those already known and travelled across by previous filmmakers or by mainstream productions. And let’s also look at the subtitle: ‘New Filmmakers / New Gazes’. We are seeking, therefore, those flashes sparked by that category of films that openly and defiantly commit themselves to self-imposed standards of honesty and to the exploration of new forms. And we do so by focusing on the filmmakers who emerged already in the 21st century and, more particularly, on those creators whose original ‘glance’ has proven capable of surprising us, of proposing groundbreaking and heterodox approaches, of shooting and filming from the heart rather than with a calculator in hand , from instinct rather than reason, led by impulse instead of by the industry’s compass.
