«Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Pedro Costa, Manoel de Oliveira, Luís Miñarro, and myself, with our diverse gazes, have undertaken this ‘Uncertain Journey’, wandering around the threshold where life and cinema intertwine. Facing —as a citizen and as a filmmaker— the identity crisis that floods Europe, I look backwards in search of lights of hope, and I admire how my daughter Alicia, at the age of 4, stares happily at the clouds somewhere in La Mancha, in a place whose name I do care to remember: Fuente Álamo», Pablo García Pérez de Lara.
He was born in Barcelona in 1970. Since 1998, he has been a founding member of the audiovisual company Doble Banda, and for more than twenty years he has combined directing, editing and his work as DoP in various audiovisual projects. In 1996 began filming ‘Fuente Álamo, la caricia del tiempo’ and in 2001 this debut documentary feature had its first screening in the Time of History section of the 46th edition of Seminci. This October marks the 20th anniversary of that world premiere, after which the filmmaker has been able to direct three short films: ‘Alicia Retratada’ (2003); ‘Oblidant Nonot’ (2010) and ‘Escolta’ (2014); and four feature films: ‘Butterfly’ (2007); ‘Tchindas’ (2015, co-directed with Marc Serena); ‘Néixer per néixer’ (Falca Visual, 2021) and ‘Uncertain Journey’ (2020).
