José Corbacho and Marta Nieto, 62nd Seminci hosts

10/16/2017.- The comedian José Corbacho will host the inaugural gala of the62nd Seminci. The actor, director, and screenwriter returns to the contest after presenting the gala of the Cinema & Wine series in 2016. He also visited Valladolid a year earlier to present, out of competition, Incidencias [Incidents]. This was his third film directing alongside Juan Cruz after Tapas [Tapas Bar] (2005), with which they won the Goya for Best New Director, and Cobardes [Cowards] (2008). With their first feature film, they also obtained the Golden Biznaga and the Audience Prize in the Málaga Film Festival. Corbacho, known especially for his appearances on the small screen, says “it is always a pleasure to return to the Seminci and to a city that gets all decked out for the festival”.

Actress Marta Nieto, from Murcia, will host the screenings of feature films and short films within the Official Section of the festival. She will be taking over for another actress, Melina Matthews. Nieto is a well known face on television, having portrayed roles in series such as Cuéntame cómo pasó [Tell Me How It Happened], Frágiles [The Fragile], Los Hombres de Paco [Paco’s Men], Motivos Personales [Personal Reasons], and Hospital central [Central Hospital], among others. She has also been part of the cast of numerous big screen works, including El camino de los ingleses [Summer Rain] (Antonio Banderas, 2006), Café solo… o con ellas [Love Espresso] (Álvaro Díaz Lorenzo, 2007) and 8 citas [8 Dates] (Peris Romano y Rodrigo Sorogoyen, 2008). Regarding her participation in the festival, Nieto notes that “it is a privilege to get to know and share first hand the films competing in the contest”.
