SINOPSIS

Rio de Janeiro, 1050. Inside the conservative household of a Portuguese family, inseparable sisters Euridice (18) and Guida (20) provide each other with a safe space where they can nurture hopes and aspirations. While Guida finds in her younger sister a loyal confidant with whom to share her romantic adventures, Euridice draws from her bouncing sister the courage she needs to become a professional pianist.

El/la director/a

Karim Aïnouz born in 1966 in Fortaleza, studied architecture in Brasília and cinema at New York University. His first feature Madame Satã (2002) was selected for Un Certain Regard and received numerous distinctions worldwide. O Céu de Suely (2006) and Viajo Porque Preciso, Volto Porque te Amo, co-directed with Marcelo Gomes (2009), were both invited at the Orizzonti section of the Venice Festival and won a number of international awards. The Silver Cliff (2011) was presented at the Directors’ Fortnight. In 2008 Aïnouz directed, with Sergio Machado Alice, a fiction series for HBO Latin America. His installations have been shown in different venues including the Whitney Museum of American Art Biennial (1997), the São Paulo Art Biennial (2004) and the Sharjah Biennial (2011).
