Inaugural walk on the green carpet kickstarts the 64th edition of Seminci

Javier Angulo, director of the festival, accredits the mayor of Valladolid, Óscar Puente

19/10/2019.- The mayor of Valladolid, Óscar Puente, the Valladolid Festival’s director Javier Angulo, and the city’s  Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Ana Redondo, took the traditional Friday morning walk along the Festival’s green carpet prior to the official opening of Valladolid’s “Film Week”, whose  64th edition will run from tomorrow, Saturday 19, until next Saturday, 26 October.

The tour ended at Teatro Calderón’s  Accreditation Office inside the Festival’s main venue, where the mayor and the director of Seminci exchanged a few words with those attending the event  and collected their own accreditations and tickets for the “Film Week” that is about to start.  In addition, they had the opportunity to taste the Festival’s  official dessert prepared by Valladolid’s Provincial Confectioners Association.

In statements to the press, the mayor stressed that Seminci «is the great trademark of  culture in Castile and  León: an event we must remain strongly committed to  in the coming years». The 64 edition of Seminci has already achieved an extra 10% in ticket sales by comparison with last year’s figures and the goal for 2019, as stated by the city mayor, is  «to reach 100,000 viewers». On the other hand, Javier Angulo pointed out  that  «we have grown as a team, in terms of professionalization and festival contents».

The event was also joined by  Manuel Rubio, the regional director of  Unicaja Banco for Castile and León, and María José Rivera, the banking institution’s Head of Communication and International Relations. Unicaja Banco is  one of the main sponsors of the Valladolid International Film Festival.
