In The Builders of the Alhambra, Isabel Fernández explores the human history behind the palaces of Granada

The DOC. España section has programmed this Sunday 23 October the feature film The Builders of the Alhambra, a historical film that “talks about the beauty and construction of one of the oldest buildings in Spain”, said its director, Isabel Fernández, during its presentation to the public at Seminci.

The work features actor Amr Waked, who plays the role of the forgotten chronicler, Ibn al-Khatib. With the production companies El de las Dos Vidas, Al Pati Produccions, Polar Star Films, this is a 112-minute feature film that explores and discovers the people behind the “palace-poem, unique in the world”, Fernández pointed out.

“Our aim is to project the human story behind this architectural emblem, through the lost story of Ibn al-Khatib”, explained the director, who also acknowledges the difficulty of narrating the feature film through a little-known character.
