‘The Dorm’ opens the ‘Meeting Point’ section at the 66th Seminci

The film The Dorm, directed by Roman Vasyanov (director of photography in Hollywood action films such as Hearts of Steel or Suicide Squad) opened the Meeting Point section of the 66th edition of Seminci this Saturday, October 23rd, 2021, with the presence of Artem Vasilyev, producer of the film.

The Dorm tells the story of a group of friends who try to get by in their daily lives and avoid falling into the corruption of the Soviet system, personified in the leaders of the dorm where they live. After a tragic accident, the consequences of their actions will test their love, their friendship and their beliefs.

The film is set in the 1980s in the now defunct Soviet Union, although its producer believes that The Dorm “is very contemporary” and “deals with universal themes.”

“This film has suffered a lot because of the pandemic,” Vasilyev said, as the film was released shortly before the spread of the coronavirus. The health crisis prevented the film from participating in film festivals around Europe, after it received the award for Best Debut Film at the Kinotavr festival, one of the most important in Russia.

The Dorm premiered today Saturday 23rd October at 11.30 am at the Fundos Hall, within the 66th edition of the Valladolid International Film Festival. Seminci will have a new screening of this film, in competition in the Meeting Point section, next Saturday 30th October at 16.00 at Zorrilla Theatre.
