“Shooting for Mirza” inaugurates DOC.Spain at the 66th Seminci

Shooting for Mirza, by Juan Gautier, opened the DOC.Spain section at the 66th Valladolid International Film Festival. The documentary stars Danko, son of Mirza Delibašić, one of the basketball legends of the 1970s. The athlete won everything during his career and became a legend in his country after he decided to stay in his village during the Sarajevo War.  A stroke ended his life at the age of 47.

Twenty years later, his son Danko, moved by admiration and the birth of his own son, decided to reconstruct his father’s story, a national hero, on a journey that will help him get to know himself better and reconnect with his father.

The feature film, which premieres at Seminci, was presented by its director as well as by its producer, Mintxo Díaz, who expressed their gratitude to the festival for its selection at the event and emphasised that the project “has been undertaken with great affection.”

Gautier has previously directed documentaries such as Sanfermines 78 and short films such as Metropolis Ferry. Shooting for Mirza will be screened at Broadway Cinemas on Saturday 23rd at 16.15h and Sunday 24th at 11.45h.
