Seminci Joven will screen 14 feature films selected for their pedagogical and cultural value

Float Like a Butterfly, by Carmel Winters

09/25/2019.- In this year’s edition, the competition series Seminci Joven, which is aimed at young people ranging from 12 to 18 years old, students of secondary school as well as vocational education, will include 14 feature films, selected for their pedagogical and cultural value, in order to merge education and cinema. This section, which is sponsored by El Norte de Castilla and the University of Valladolid, awards a prize of € 6,000 by popular vote of the students who attend the screenings, and the award will go to the director of the film that gets the highest score after the vote count. So far, a total of 70 secondary schools and vocational education centers from Valladolid capital and province have asked to attend.

In this edition, the selected titles are Buñuel en el laberinto de las tortugas, by Salvador Simó (Spain, 2019); De nuevo, otra vez, by Romina Paula (Argentina, 2019); Los días de la ballena, by Catalina Arroyave Restrepo (Colombia, 2019); Float Like a Butterfly, by Carmel Winters (Ireland, 2018); Fritzi – eine Wendewundergeschichte (Fritzi – A Revolutionary Tale), by Ralf Kukula and Matthias Bruhn (Germany / Luxembourg / Belgium / Czech Republic, 2019); Girl, by Lukas Dhont (Belgium / Netherlands, 2018); Jellyfish, by James Gardner (United Kingdom, 2018); Jeune Juliette, by Anne Émond (Canada, 2019); Les météorites (Meteorites), by Romain Laguna (France, 2018); Metal Heart, by Hugh O’Conor (Ireland, 2018); Mijn bijzonder rare week met Tess (My Extraordinary Summer with Tess), by Steven Wouterlood (Netherlands / Germany, 2019); Old Boys, by Toby MacDonald (United Kingdom / Sweden, 2018); The Grizzlies, by Miranda de Pencier (Canada, 2018), and Une colonie, by Geneviève Dulude-De Celles (Canada, 2018).
