Film and stage director Josefina Molina will preside over the International Jury

10/10/2019.- The Spanish film, TV and stage director Josefina Molina, who was recently presented with the National Film Award, will preside over the International Jury of the Valladolid Festival’s 64th edition.

Together with her, the Official Section’s lineup of jurors includes  seven personalities of accredited repute in the domains of cinema, journalism and literature from countries like Spain, Georgia, India or Canada. They will be entrusted with choosing  the best feature films and shorts taking part in the Official Section of Valladolid’s 64th Film Week.

One of them is the Canadian filmmaker Philippe Lesage, whose third feature film, Genesis, bagged the Golden Spike in the previous edition, in addition to the Ribera del Duero Award for Best Direction.

Madrid’s writer and journalist Rosa Montero, the  author of more than 15 novels, stories and even books for children and the winner of Spain’s National Prize for Letters in 2017, will likewise  join the International Jury, together with  the French producer and photographer Thierry Forte, with a 22-year career behind him  including work with filmmakers like Arturo Ripstein or Montxo Armendáriz, and actors like Penélope Cruz, Marisa Paredes or Gael García Bernal.

A well-known presence at Seminci is the Indian photojournalist and filmmaker Dilip Mehta, who joined the Festival’s 54th edition with Cooking with Stella, whereas Georgia, this year’s guest country and the subject of a retrospective, will be represented by filmmaker Keti Machavariani, a professional with extensive experience in television and cinema. The International Jury is complete with the Cuban film event manager Iván Giroud, the director of Havana’s International Festival of New Latin American Cinema since 2013 and the author of two books and numerous texts on Cuban cinema.
